Because the owner also eats here (apparently). In fact, that might even be the owner sitting by the window. If so, there should be a little arrow pointing in his direction.

Yeah. The window should read 'The owner also eats here (and sleeps here)'
at least that's more reassuring than the one dan once read (incidentally, also at an indian restaurant) which boasted, "you won't live to regret eating here".
